Colton Vien led off pitching for the Kilowatts Wednesday night against Starbuck. He started strong, striking out the first batter. Center fielder Jordan Odegard caught a hit to center field, Third baseman Marcus Kranz fielded a ground ball to 1st for the third out. In the bottom of the 1st, Brandon Grundstruck out, and Odegard and Cam Vien hit the ball to left field, both of which were caught. The sun came out in the top of the 2nd. Vien beaned one batter. The next batter hit the ball to 3rd base. Kranz threw it to 2nd base, forcing the runner out. They tried the double play, quickly throwing it to first, but the batter was called safe. The away team got the bases loaded from a single and another beaned batter. The kilowatts got one runner out at 1st. The next batter hit a few foul balls, and ended up with a full count. The runners on base tried to take off. The pitch was called a ball, walking the batter and scoring a run. 2nd baseman Christian Kanten caught a fly ball to end the inning.

In the bottom of the 2nd, Kranz struck out. Schmidt hit to right field, but was thrown out at 1st. Kanten struck out as well. In the top of the 3rd, after a single, Vien had to drop into the splits to catch a ball. The runner was called safe. Odegard caught another hit in center field. Another batter was beaned to load the bases. Colton Vien jumped to snag a ball that bounced high off the ground. He tossed it to Austin Friese, the catcher, forcing the scoring runner out. Friese tossed it to 1st but the runner was called safe. Right Fielder Brandon Schmidt caught the next hit. Bottom 3rd, Colton Vien hit it to 2nd base, and was thrown out at 1st. Josh Anderson struck out, Friese struck out swinging at a high pitch.

In the top of the 4th, Vien struck out the first batter. Odegard caught a big hit to center field. Next hit, Shortstop Grund overthrew first, so the runner advanced to 2nd. The next batter ran on a dropped 3rd strike, but Friese threw him out. In the bottom of the 4th, Grund walked, then the away team pulled off a double play. The shortstop fielded the ball to 2nd, who then got it to first before Odegard could get there. Cam Vien struck out. In the top of the 5th, the runner got to 1st on the dropped 3rd strike, then stole 2nd. The next hit snuck past the shortstop, setting up the next batter to hit to left field and get a runner home. This put the away team up 0-2. Colton Vien fumbled with the next ground ball, but still managed to get the runner out at 1st. Schmidt caught the ball in left field, and threw it home. Friese caught it and scared the runner back to 3rd base. The next batter hit a worm burner to 2nd. Grund threw it to 1st before the runner could score.

In the bottom of the 5th, Kranz hit it high to right field, and the ball was caught. Schmidt was thrown out at 1st. Kranz shattered his bat, the ball rolled to 3rd as he charged towards first, but didn't make it in time. In the top of the 6th, the first batter was thrown out at 1st. Odegard caught a hit in center field. The next batter made it to 2nd but the runner on 1st was out. The next batter bunted and Grund threw him out. In the Bottom of the 6th, Colton Vien’s hit snuck through the infield. Cole Richter replaced him as a pinch runner. Anderson’s hit was caught. Richter stole 2nd. He watched Friese's hit. The shortstop dove to catch it but missed. Grund walked, loading the bases. Odegard hit the ball to left field, it was caught, but the runner tagged up and slid home safely, putting the Kilowatts on the board 1-2. Cam Vien was thrown out at first. He was frustrated, but channeled it well in the next inning. He dropped into the splits to get the first batter out. Then Grund threw it right to his glove so he could tag the runner. Colton Vien struck out the next batter.

In the bottom of the 7th, Kranz struck out. Schmidt's back let out a loud thud when the ball beaned him. Kanten tried bunting, but struck out. Schmidt had to dive back to first three times. Colton Vien hit a single but Anderson struck out. Neither team managed to score for the rest of the game, leading to a Starbuck victory 1-2.
