Jennifer Lynn Mead, 36, of Granite Falls, was charged this week with second-degree assault with substantial bodily harm and another count of second-degree assault after allegedly stabbing another man during an argument. Both charges are felonies.
The event in question happened on Mon., Oct. 22 at a home on the 900 block of 10th Avenue in Granite Falls. According to court documents, Mead was involved in a fight along with four other men. The exact sequence of events is unclear due to competing versions of the episode, but three of the involved men believed that Mead could have taken $1,000 from them. The stabbing resulted after the group went to confront her over the matter, resulting in one man receiving a lacerated lung. He was eventually airlifted to the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.
Mead was later released on her own recognizance following a bail hearing last Wednesday at Yellow Medicine County District Court. Under court order, she is not allowed to enter the alleged victim's residence, bars, or liquor stores. She is also required to remain law-abiding during the interim. Her next court appearance, a settlement conference, is scheduled for November 26.
