After several delays and unexpected obstacles, Medea’s Cafe is finally open for business in Clarkfield. The first day of business was Saturday, October 27. Despite the positive response from hungry residents, cafe manager Medea Noel was forced to close early due to an unforeseen electrical outage.
Nevertheless, community interest remained strong when she reopened Sunday morning for brunch. Over 100 customers stopped by to try out the food and tour the new cafe.
The cafe is still owned by the Clarkfield Economic Development Authority, but Noel is in charge for running the day-to-day business of the cafe. She also has full control over setting up the menu, and has even received friendly suggestions from the community. Noel explained that she plans on having a different lunch special every day except Sunday when they will serve a brunch buffet.
Despite all the craziness inevitable on opening day, Noel says that she is deeply grateful for the outpouring of support from the community. "I love Clarkfield! All the people are so understanding and pleasant,” she said.
