Lois Irene Gimble, age 96, formerly of Sioux Falls, SD died on Friday, May 10, 2019 at the Franklin Care and Rehabilitation Center in Franklin, MN. A memorial service celebrating her life will be 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory in Sioux Falls with burial to follow at Hills of Rest Cemetery in Sioux Falls, SD.
Lois Irene Judes was born on July 5, 1922 in Harrisburg, SD to Albert and Christine (Javers) Judes. She was raised and received her education in Tea and Harrisburg, SD graduating from Harrisburg High School. Lois was united in marriage with Eugene “Gene” O. Gimble on September 19, 1942 in Sioux Falls, SD. While Gene was serving in the United States Air Force the couple lived in Rapid City, SD and it was there the couple welcomed the birth of their son, Gene Russell “Rusty” Gimble on September 22, 1944.
In 1946 following Gene’s honorable discharge from the United States Air Force the couple made their home in Sioux Falls, SD where they lived until moving to Granite Falls, MN in 1960. While in Sioux Falls Lois worked as a clerk at South Sioux Drug & Sunshine Foods as well as babysitting. While living in Granite Falls, Lois worked at Vis Tots & Teen Shop and the Dalin Drug Store.
The couple moved back to Sioux Falls in 1965 where they lived and Lois worked at Bel Air Drug and Hy-Vee until her retirement. Gene passed away on July 9, 1992. Lois made her way back to Granite Falls, MN to be near her sister, Karen in 2014. She resided at Henry Hill Apartments until going to the Franklin Care and Rehabilitation Center in mid-2016. Lois loved playing card games, needlework, fishing and traveling with Gene in their travel trailer. Spending many summers parked at the lake. She also enjoyed dancing on Saturday nights with Gene and attending garage sales. In addition to the above she also cherished her poodles, Koko and Willie.
Grateful for having shared her life are two grandchildren: Joel Gimble of Sioux Falls, SD and Wendy Gimble-Nelson and her husband, Justin of Plattsmouth, NE; daughter in Law: Jewell Gimble Sioux Falls, SD; one sister, Karen Galow and her husband DuWayne of Granite Falls, MN; nephew: Ross Galow and his wife Jessica & their son, Jacob of Excelsior, MN; niece, Jenifer Galow of Granite Falls, MN; two nephews: Ronald Kersbergen and his wife, Cindy of Sioux Falls, SD and Ricky Kersbergen and his wife, Kim of Sioux Falls, SD. Lois was preceded in death by her parents; husband Gene; son, Rusty; and one sister, Marion Kersbergen and her husband, Russell.
