Maxine Joan (Tompt) Weinrich, 88, of Granite Falls, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at her residence in Granite Falls.

Maxine Joan (Tompt) Weinrich, 88, of Granite Falls, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at her residence in Granite Falls.  

Memorial Services will be 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 16, at Granite Falls Lutheran Church in Granite Falls.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.  

Maxine Joan (Tompt) Weinrich was born on Saturday, May 5, 1928 to John and Eva (Robillard) Tompt at St. John’s Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota.  She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, attended Clara Barton Elementary School in Fargo, and graduated from Moorhead High School in 1945.  After high school, she attended the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks where she was a member of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority.  She worked as an airline stewardess for Mid-Continent Airlines where she met her future husband Otto.

On April 21, 1950, Maxine was united in marriage to Otto Weinrich at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead.  Over the years, they lived in Colfax, ND, Brandon, Starbuck, and eventually settled in Granite Falls in 1977 where Maxine owned and operated Maxine’s Draperies for many years. She was a Doyenne (eldest member) of Tuesday Study Club, Blue Stocking Book Club, and Bridge Club, and a member of Granite Falls Lutheran Church.  She also enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, needle point, water aerobics, and spending time with her family and friends.

Maxine is survived by her children, Cynthia (Dennis) Mallon of Littleton, CO, Brad (Doris Samuelson) Weinrich of Alexandria, and Wendy (Mark Nahnsen) Weinrich of Saugerties, NY; seven grandchildren, Joseph (Ami) Mallon, Michael (Stephanie) Mallon, Gretchen (Steve) Moeller, Megan (Sam) Steidl, Mareta (Matthew) Bisson, Jasper Weinburd, and Eli Weinburd; nine great grandchildren; one brother, John (Nancy) Tompt of Frazee; two sisters, Viola Jean (Fred) Risk of Indianapolis, IN, and Karen (Sam) Adams of Moorhead; special sister-in-law, Phyllis Tompt; and many extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Otto Weinrich, her parents, two brothers, Lynn Tompt, and Darwin Tompt, and one sister, Elaine Wright.
