Kathleen Bothun, 66, of Northfield, passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday morning, October 27, 2016, at Three Links Care Center.
Kathleen Mary Pederson Bothun was born September 30, 1950, in Granite Falls, to Harold and Mary (Atcherson) Pederson. She was baptized and confirmed at Granite Falls Lutheran Church, graduated from Granite Falls High School in 1968 and in 1972 received her bachelor’s degree in Home Economics from St. Olaf College. While attending St. Olaf Kathy worked at the Ole Store and during that time she met Jerry Bothun and in 1973 they married.
Kathy worked for several years at the Registrar’s Office at St. Olaf and as secretary at St. John’s Lutheran Church. In 1988, Kathy moved to Prior Lake and in 2000 to Jordan. She worked for many years in real estate, as manager of the Prior Lake Bowling Alley and as a dealer and pit boss for Mystic Lake Casino. She enjoyed gardening, baking, cross-stitch, crossword puzzles, bowling - a 190 average, hiking (especially the Grand Canyon) and she loved Sudoku.
Survivors include her children, Jennifer Eberle of Savage, Andrew (Christine), Jeremy (Jena), all of Faribault; her grandchildren, Taryn and Taylor Marie Eberle, Caitlin and Aaron Bothun, Taylor Rae Bothun; her “one and only sister,” Beth (James) Marcotte of Albuquerque, New Mexico; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 31, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Northfield. Pallbearers will be Jennifer Eberle, Andrew Bothun, Jeremy Bothun, Ryan Marcotte, Briana Schneider and Jonathan Marcotte. Visitation was at 5 p.m. Sunday, October 30, 2016, at the Benson & Langehough Funeral Home. Visitation continued at the church on Monday one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are with the Benson & Langehough Funeral Home.
