Gary A. Ray, 73, passed away Sunday, October 15, 2017 at the St. Cloud Hospital while in Palliative Care after suffering for many years from lung and heart disease. Gary was born in Charleston, West Virginia on April 12, 1944 to Guy (Stanley) Ray (Dec.) and Mildred Virginia Kirk (Dec.) Gary loved and raised many children, loved to own and ride Harley-Davidson motorcycles, helped his friends and family with projects such as rebuilding houses, cars and appliances.

He resided in Granite Falls and worked as an entrepreneur up until his retirement, starting and owning his own appliance sales and service business and multiple rental properties for many years. Gary was preceded in death by his father and mother, siblings Charles (Lewis) Ray, Linda (Susan) Ortiz-Ray, Kenneth (Stanley) Ortiz-Ray, Judith (Ann) Phillips-Ray, and daughter Jacqueline Ray. Gary is survived by his sister Barbara Vasquez-Ray, son Michael Ray, step-daughters Pamela Ray, Cheryl Ray, Marie Johnson-Simpson, Kathy Johnson-Citrowske, Lisa Sherman-Smith and multiple grandchildren.

Gary will be remembered as a friendly, good-hearted man, with a deep love for his step daughters and grandchildren, stubborn tendencies and a demand for personal independence. No funeral service will be held at this time as Gary generously donated his remains for the research and education of medical and surgical professionals at the Mayo Clinic Center of Anatomical Research in Rochester. A private, memorial service will be held at a later date for close friends and family. In lieu of flowers or cards, please donate to the Center of Anatomical Research listed above, as Gary hoped that the use of his remains would help others with COPD and heart disease.
