Cottonwood - The funeral service for Nancy Runholt, 87, of Cottonwood, will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 8, 2021, at Christ Lutheran Church in Cottonwood. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. and Thursday, one hour prior to the service, 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., all at Christ Lutheran Church. Interment will follow the service at the Cottonwood Cemetery.
Nancy Elaine (Koch) Runholt was born on December 17, 1933, in Stanley Township to Harry and Evelyn (Moffatt) Koch. She grew up on the family farm and graduated from Cottonwood High School. On August 6, 1955, she was united in marriage to Jim Runholt at Swan Lake Church. The couple farmed and raised their family on the farm. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and was very proud of her family. Nancy enjoyed the outdoors, including gardening, bird watching, camping, and golfing. Her hobbies included genealogy, crafts, sewing, and painting. Nancy was always ready to play a game of cards or board games with family and friends. She was involved in many community activities. She loved attending her grandchildren's many activities and events. Nancy and Jim enjoyed traveling and made it to all 50 states. In 2013, the couple moved off of the farm and into Cottonwood.
Nancy died on Friday, July 2, 2021, at the Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center in Marshall. She is survived by her husband, Jim, of Cottonwood, children Kim (and Carolyn) Runholt, Kathy (and Dave) Johnson, and Ellen (and Greg) Golberg, all of Cottonwood, grandchildren Jeremy Runholt, Cody (and Ashley) Runholt, Tanya Runholt, Brenton Johnson (and Je Rae Freiborg), Tessa (and Chad) Johnson, Kendra (and Chris) Stevens, Derek (and Macy) Golberg, Torey (and Jamie) Golberg, and Kayla (and Levi) Kuyper, 17 great-grandchildren, and numerous extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Weldon Koch, and sister Betty Pentila.
Memorials are preferred to the Cottonwood Ambulance Service.
