Mass of Christian Burial for George Laleman, 94, of Cottonwood, will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 16, 2021, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cottonwood. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 15, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 5:00 p.m. and a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Visitation will continue on Thursday, 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will take place at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Marshall.

George Henry Laleman was born on September 8, 1927, on the family farm near Marshall to Sylvere and Martha (Van Acker) Laleman. When George was 16, he moved with his family to the family farm near Cottonwood. On June 1, 1948, he was united in marriage to Rita Girard at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. The couple made their home on a farm near Cottonwood for many years before retiring and moving into Cottonwood in December of 1983. Georged worked at the Cottonwood Co-op and served on the Board of Directors. The couple enjoyed traveling on many vacations, spending time at a casino and happy hour at 5:00 p.m. George also enjoyed playing golf, woodworking, and was very meticulous with his lawn. He enjoyed taking farm rides and was proud of his large family. He enjoyed visiting with his friends and especially with his family and grandchildren. He will be remembered for his great stories and his quote, "Look what we started here!"

George died on Sunday, September 12, 2021, at the Prairie Home Hospice Lockwood House in Marshall. He is survived by his children Greg (and Deb) Laleman of Marshall, Jim Laleman of Mansfield, TX, Diane (and Mark) Louwagie of Cottonwood, Mark (and Cheryl) Laleman of Cottonwood, Doug (and Nan) Laleman of Marshall, and Kevin (and Sherri) Laleman of Savage, 22 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, sisters Josie Farasyn and Jeanie (and Larry) Haverkost, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Rita, daughter Debra Laleman, sister Georgette Soenen and one brother and sister in infancy.

Memorials preferred to Prairie Home Hospice of Marshall.
