On Friday, the Sting had a night of appreciation for the parents. They were given flowers for recognition of the time they put in, supporting their wrestlers. After the ceremony, the lights dimmed, and Quad County threw down again the number 3 ranked team in the state. Going in to the match, Head Coach Darrell Refsland told his team to “go out and do their best and learn from them. We have plenty of season left, so we can pick up things that they are doing better than we are, and learn what we can improve on.”

Two Quad County wrestlers did manage to upset their opponents. Miles Kattevold had great takedowns and maintained dominant control on top, and finished with a decision on points 5-0. Ayden Friese electrified the crowd with a fantastic match and several near falls. Friese kept his narrow lead in the third period with smart takedown defense, and won via decision against Luke Tupper, 7-5.

The team score doesn't do Quad County justice. The Cobras fought well, they were just up against a very high quality team. Quad County will take what they learned and head back to the mats to drill for their next meet.
