66 Years of bliss in Clarkfield

Darcy Vold of Clarkfield shared the love story of her grandparents, Merald and Eileen Borg, with the Advocate Tribune.

“Merald Borg was born on August 22nd, 1932 in the Montevideo hospital, four days later my Grandma, Eileen Rowberg was born on August 26th in the same hospital. My grandpa always told us this story about how they were in the nursery together and he knew “it was meant to be”. My Grandpa ended up moving to Hanley Falls, where my Grandma lived, in the fifth grade. They played husband and wife in their high school play and were together since that day. My Grandpa was stationed in Greenland in the Airforce and proposed to my Grandma in a letter. She said yes and they were married on July 26, 1952. They moved to Clarkfield in 1955. They had 4 children, 6 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. They loved dancing, spending time with family and friends, and just enjoyed their life with each other. They were the greatest love story and taught us all what true love really means” shared Darcy.

The couple was married 66 years and much like they entered the world, they left not far apart.  Emerald passed in 2019 with Eileen joining him in 2020.
