The New Testament, ultimate definer of the message of God, repeatedly declares that it is quite clear that God is much more than someone’s forgotten grandfather sailing around on a cloud watching for miscreants and punishing them for minor missteps.

The complete Biblical scholar knows that, contrary to a cloud bath, God is an intimate presence within and beside, closely above and behind every one of his children at all times.

If anyone hides out on a distant cloud, it never is God. He always is with his children, actively involved in guiding their steps and illuminating the path for them.

How is it that he can be so many places simultaneously? He is God, as he said, everywhere and always present to help and encourage his children.

Being spirit rather than mortal flesh, God is simultaneously under the sea, in every cloud overhead, in forest and field, beside gentle brooks and raging rivers, a rider on the wind, and a dreamer in the shadows or on your pillow.

He is in every hospital room and every chamber of grief, at the cemetery and in the birthing chamber, in every classroom, on every leaf, shining through every blossom. He is wherever there is pain, fear, hunger, doubt or serious challenge, on a beam of light in the sunshine but an instant responder to every call for help. He is in every tree, behind every cloud, in every pulpit and all baptistries, in park or desert, deep in every valley, triumphant atop every mountain, always awake and fully armed, and always ready with words, the touch of love and the power of healing.

Should you try to avoid him, hide from him or defy him, you cannot win. But if you approach in love, you will see clearly the road to your special place in his kingdom.

In his eyes and his heart, you are a full-fledged very important person. Accept this reality and enjoy it in the knowledge you share in his constant love.

If you find God, open any page in his book and learn that he is always reaching out to you. Therefore, you always will know that he uniquely shaped you, and always know that he intends to satisfy your every eternal need as only he can.

When you look for God, do not be alarmed if you do not at once see him. He will see and know you. God is Spirit and reveals himself physically only in the presence of his son Jesus Christ and in the words of his great co-workers. He always is a caring presence where you are. You could not force him to leave you, even if you tried.

He has a special mission for you, and in due course will reveal it in detail. Be patient, await his call to duty and eagerly await his summons that you may respond vigorously when it comes.
